The 2015 Oscars nominations for Best Director included THE BIG SHORT by Adam McKay, ROOM by Lenny Abrahamson, SPOTLIGHT by Tom McCarthy, MAD MAX: FURY ROAD by George Miller, and of course the winner, THE REVENANT by Alenjandro I\u00f1\u00e1rritu.\u00a0 It is no surprise that Alejandro along with his compatriots Guillermo Del Torro and Alfonso Cuar\u00f3n have won multiple Oscars among themselves in large part due to the rich history of Mexican cinema which has had the full support of IMCINE (the Mexican Institute of Cinema).\u00a0 No doubt if American Latinos were afforded similar support in the United States there would be even more diversity in Hollywood and more Oscar winners.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
