The 2014 Oscars nominations for Best Director included AMERICAN HUSTLE by David O. Russell, NEBRASKA by Alexander Payne, 12 YEARS A SLAVE by Steve McQueen, THE WOLF OF WALL ST by Martin Scorses, and of course the winner, GRAVITY by Alfonso Cuar\u00f3n.\u00a0 It is no surprise that Alfonso along with his compatriots Guillermo Del Torro and Alenjandro I\u00f1\u00e1rritu have won multiple Oscars among themselves in large part due to the rich history of Mexican cinema which has had the full support of IMCINE (the Mexican Institute of Cinema).\u00a0 No doubt if American Latinos were afforded similar support in the United States there would be even more diversity in Hollywood and more Oscar winners.<\/p>\n
