The 2015 Oscars nominations for Best Director included BOYHOOD by Richard Linklater, FOXCATCHER by Bennett Miller, THE GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL by Wes Anderson, THE IMITATION GAME by Morten Tyldum, and of course the winner, BIRDMAN by Alenjandro Iñárritu. It is no surprise that Alejandro along with his compatriots Guillermo Del Torro and Alfonso Cuarón have won multiple Oscars among themselves in large part due to the rich history of Mexican cinema which has had the full support of IMCINE (the Mexican Institute of Cinema). No doubt if American Latinos were afforded similar support in the United States there would be even more diversity in Hollywood and more Oscar winners.
