In another example of how drones are not only used by the military or Hollywood, the World Wildlife Fund is using them in Namibia, Africa to keep poachers at bay. Armed with $20 thousand drones and a $5 million grant from Google, park rangers are learning how to fly the drones during the day or at night with the aid of nightvision cameras to protect elephants and rhinos from poachers coveting their ivory tusks. While the FAA works on drone regulations and currently has the use of drone activity curtailed, it is great to see drones being put to immediate effective use in Africa.
